About Home Inventory

Home Inventory is a small set of free home-inventory tools for owners, renters and anyone who wants their possessions documented before they need the paperwork. You type; your browser does the rest.

How it works

Every tool on this site is a client-side program: all checklist progress, catalog math, depreciation estimates, warranty expiry dates and PDF generation run as JavaScript in your browser. There is no server that receives anything, no account to create, and nothing stored between visits except what you explicitly keep (your rooms and records live in your browser's own storage). Every tool runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded, no accounts, no tracking.

Offline & installable

The site is a PWA: install it to your home screen or desktop and it keeps working with no internet — handy in the attic, the garage, or a basement with no signal while you photograph the water heater label. Your records never depend on a connection.

Print-first design

Every printable is designed for US Letter and A4: room checklists, insurance reports, warranty lists, maintenance logs and appliance registers. Export clean PDFs right from the browser — the PDFs are generated on your device too.
